Watchtower and Dune Room on the way
At the beginning of July, iCOON received the final permit from the municipality of Rotterdam for the installation of a lookout tower (the UITzWAAI) and an above-ground corridor system (the Duinkamer).
Joram Raaijmakers and Krijn de Koning designed a contemporary experience with respect for the history of the area.
Joram Raaijmakers' lookout tower is based on the watchtowers from the Cold War. From the tower you can see the Nieuwe Waterweg and the North Sea at the same time and look at large ships at eye level and welcome them or wave them goodbye.
Krijn de Koning's dune room is an above-ground corridor system that allows you to experience the dune in a special way and gives visitors an idea of the thickness of the walls of the adjacent bunker.
The installation of both works of art is planned for the first week of April 2025.
